Im Ye Jin Responds To Reports That Her Father Borrowed Money Using Her Name As An Actress
Actress Im Ye Jin is the latest Korean celebrity to be implicated in a parent’s past debts.
On December 15, her agency, YG Entertainment, released an official statement on her behalf. “First, I would like to apologize to those who have been hurt by my biological father,” the statement read. “However, after my mother passed away, I cut off contact with my biological father. There was a lot of pain and difficulty in my past family life and it is difficult to speak in detail about the circumstances in which we decided to cut off contact with each other. I ask for your understanding on this issue.”
The statement continued, “Because of this situation, I have not been able to check the truth of the reports that have arisen. I am very taken aback by these reports, but if there is anything in legal terms for which I can take responsibility, I will work to solve those problems to the best of my ability.”
The report in question was made by A, in an interview with a media outlet, who alleged that Im Ye Jin’s father, henceforth known as “Im,” used his daughter’s famous name to borrow money without paying it back. This reportedly occurred in 2008 to the tune of about 250 million won (about $220,800).
Im Ye Jin is currently filming the drama “My Only One.”
