Debuting as VIXX’s sister group, we have seen gugudan growing up and spoiling us with amazing comebacks for more than two years now. These girls have everything to blow your mind: powerful vocals, exciting concepts, and entertaining variety skills. If you are not familiar with these ladies yet, we’ve collected some reasons why you should start getting to know gugudan right now. They are real-life mermaids

If you were a fan of “The Little Mermaid” back in your childhood, you’ll fall in love with gugudan’s debut song in no time! They took us to their own “Wonderland” back in 2016, and we can’t get enough of the endless amount of light blue and pink colors, the absolutely adorable choreography, and the girls’ nice smiles.

Their dance skills are no joke

Name a more iconic video than gugudan members covering VIXX’s “Chained Up” and giving absolute justice to the choreography! They look more badass than ever, and it’s easy to spot just how talented they are when it comes to dancing. Their charisma is off the charts, too!

The vocalists are truly powerful

The members are not afraid of showing their vocal skills, and we were lucky enough to witness them singing acapella. Whether it’s a cover of legendary songs like Christina Aguilera’s “Candyman” and Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love” or an acapella rendition of their own song “The Boots,” their harmonies are pitch perfect and we want to hear more!

Their wide scale of concepts

We’ve already seen them as the cute princesses of the sea in “Wonderland” and confident women in “The Boots,” but there are still other sides of gugudan you need to get to know! In “Chococo,” the girls open their very own chocolate factory, and this is all the sweetness you need in your life right now!

Their variety skills

There is not a dull moment with gugudan members around, that’s for sure! They are a crazy bunch of amazing girls, and they are not afraid to show us their funny and dorky sides. It’s always heartwarming to listen to them laughing their heads off, and we can’t get enough of their most iconic funny moments! Their subunits

Although the group only debuted in 2016, gugudan already has two subunits: the first, gugudan 5959, is composed of Mina and Hyeyeon and debuted in 2017 with “Ice Chu,” but the group became inactive after Hyeyeon’s departure from the group in 2018.

gugudan SEMINA, composed of members Sejeong, Mina, and Nayoung, debuted with their self-titled album in 2018, and “Semina” became an instant summer favorite of the fans! These ladies have tons of potential, and we’re looking forward to seeing more of them in the future!

Their latest comeback

November was truly gugudan’s month! They came back with “Not That Type” and exceeded our high expectations. The song is a true bop, and the girls are on fire with the choreo and the outfits, so it’s really easy to fall in love with them all over again. Hana, Mimi, Haebin, Nayoung, Sejeong, Sally, Soyee, and Mina are on a roll, and we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on them!
