Kim Bo Sung Responds To Reports Of Father's Debt + Explains Estranged Relationship
Actor Kim Bo Sung has responded to reports of his father’s debt.
On January 4, a report revealed that Kim Bo Sung’s father borrowed more than 50 million won (approximately $44,500) from an acquaintance (referred to as “A”) in 2007 and has yet to return the money. In the report, “A” said, “I’ve lost contact with Mr. Heo.” They claimed, “The rest of my life is on the edge after my life has fallen apart completely from paying off bank loan interests for over 10 years.”
Kim Bo Sung relayed his position on the same day. In the report, Kim Bo Sung said, “Before I read the article, I had no idea of this story.” He shared, “If it’s true that he borrowed a large sum from an acquaintance without returning it for over 10 years as the article says, then [my father’s] actions are definitely in the wrong, and I do not want to shield him for having given birth to me.”
The actor also shared his unfortunate and painful family history, revealing that his father did not take care of his family when he was young. He said that they’ve had an estranged relationship since about 30 years ago. In 2008, his mother officially divorced his father.
Kim Bo Sung said that has not seen his father for about 30 years. He said, “While he has contacted me sometimes, he’s only said, ‘Give me money,’ or ‘Support my business funds.’ I couldn’t afford to give him all the money he’s asked for, but I gave him the money I had.” Kim Bo Sung also apologized to the public and the victim for his father’s wrongdoing.
