Crop Top Mania: 6 Male Idols Who Rock Crop Tops Better Than Anyone

What idols wear… what a great subject to talk — and scroll — about. If there’s something K-pop idols know how to do, it’s defying fashion standards. Always ready to try the next trend and take it to the limit, every stage, music video, or airport lobby an idol hits can turn into a runway in a blink. For this same reason, every time a group or solo artist makes a comeback, eyes are not only on the music and concept, but also on the outfits they decide to wear, because you know whatever an idol wears, an idol transforms into #fashion.

But there’s this specific item some male idols are rocking these days, one that brings out a sexy, playful, and intense side of them: the crop top. While some still see this as a piece of clothing designed for women, many have shown on stage there’s no gender when we’re talking fashion. This item is no exception to that rule, but if you’re still a little hesitant about the whole idea, here’s a list of five idols who will change your mind about men-on-crop-tops.

A.C.E – Donghun

Donghun is all about the fun. Crop tops are definitely a piece he loves to experiment with, and how not to when he looks so cool wearing them? Opting for brighter colors and fun prints, he likes to play with oversized ones that graze his pants line, which also reveal his torso intermittently while he’s moving, turning this piece into a fun way to cause excitement and curiosity on stage. Usually paired with jeans and fun belts, Donghun definitely will keep experimenting with this look, and we’re here for it.

GOT7 – Bambam

If you’re a K-pop fan, then you probably remember the day BamBam showed up on stage wearing a black crop top and social media just lost it. As if he wasn’t talented enough already, BamBam danced to miss A’s “Hush” while wearing leather pants, chain suspensors, and a black crop top, and with that, an unforgettable K-pop moment in history was born. Now we hope it’s just about time we see him rock the look again.

SHINeeTaemin

Is there really anything Taemin can’t do? He can sing, he can dance, he can model… and he can wear whatever he wants and always look incredible. Wish I had all those talents, to be honest. While Taemin started experimenting with the crop top a few years ago, it wasn’t until last year that he embraced it and made it part of his performance and concept overall. Mixing different textures, trying with short sweaters or cropped shirts, Taemin makes a statement whenever he wears one on stage.

Kang Daniel

As if he knew I was writing this, Kang Daniel showed up in a crop top right in the middle of the development of this article. During Wanna One’s final concert, Daniel appeared on stage wearing a cropped hoodie that took Twitter social media by storm, and it’s obvious why. Proudly flashing his toned abs, Daniel said goodbye to Wanna One’s activities by leaving this memory in our minds forever.

MONSTA X – Wonho

Wonho loves to take things to the limit on stage, and we totally approve of that. Always taking things further, Wonho has shown us many interesting outfits throughout the years, but one that stands out is the crop top look. He has experimented with every length, but he definitely has a favorite: short, black crops, which he’s learned how to dress to perfection and pull off both on stage and for his everyday style.

EXOKai

Ok but, are we really gonna pretend Kai is not the crop top king? He already turned them into a signature look, and he’s learned how to play with different lengths, textures, colors, and designs, sometimes layering accessories on top, sometimes going real simple, but always wowing us. From stage to everyday looks, Kai has found in crop tops a way of doing fashion while bringing something new and unique to the table, and it’s only a thing of scrolling through Twitter or Instagram to realize the fandom approves.
