Sunmi

Sunmi first debuted as a member of Wonder Girls in 2007, and she began her career as a solo artist in 2013 with the song “24 Hours.”

After she made a huge splash in 2017 with “Gashina,” she went on to have a great 2018 too with her songs “Heroine” and “Siren.” Sunmi co-composed and wrote the lyrics for “Siren” herself, as well as many more songs on her September 2018 mini album “Warning.”

She earned a total of ten music show trophies last year, and won the Best Female Artist award at the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards!

EXO’s Lay

Following his debut with EXO in 2012, Lay has also established himself as a successful solo artist. He released his third solo album “NAMANANA” in 2018, which features 11 Chinese songs and 11 English-equivalents, and he took part in the composition and arrangement of each track.

The album became his first to achieve the feat of entering the Billboard 200 chart, taking the highest-ever ranking for a Chinese artist at No. 21!

WINNER’s Song Mino

Song Mino released his first solo album “XX” in November 2018, and the WINNER member showed a whole new side of him through his solo release. Song Mino was involved in producing all of the songs on “XX,” and his title track “Fiancé” topped multiple music charts and earned six wins on music shows.

Chungha

Chungha was named as one of the top 11 contestants of Mnet’s “Produce 101” and debuted as a member of project girl group I.O.I. After the end of the group’s contracts, Chungha made her debut as a solo artist in 2017.

Last year, Chungha had great chart success with her tracks including “Roller Coaster” and “Love U”!

Block B’s Zico

After debuting as a member of Block B in 2011, Zico has become a popular solo artist and producer. In 2018, he released his song “SoulMate” featuring IU, which he co-composed and wrote the lyrics for. “SoulMate” took over charts and achieved a certified all-kill!

BLACKPINK’s Jennie

After debuting with BLACKPINK in 2016, Jennie became the first member of the group to make a solo debut last year. She released the hit single “SOLO” in November, which skyrocketed to the top of charts and brought in three wins on “Inkigayo.”

BIGBANG’s Seungri

Seungri made his debut with BIGBANG in 2006, and went on to also make a name for himself as a solo artist. In 2018, he released his first full solo album “The Great Seungri,” which included the title track “1, 2, 3!” Seungri took part in composing almost all of the songs on his album and wrote lyrics for each track, and the album took No. 1 on Gaon’s weekly album chart.
