Shinhwa's Jun Jin Opens Up About His Biological Mother

Jun Jin talked about his family on the January 20 episode of SBS’s “My Ugly Duckling.”

During his appearance on the reality show, the Shinhwa member shared that he had lived with his grandmother up until the fourth grade. He shed tears as he said, “My grandmother, who was like a parent to me, passed away two years ago.”

The mothers on the show then asked him about his own mother, and Jun Jin replied, “I have a stepmother. She loved me so much that she personally found my biological mother for me.”

He continued, “I was 24 years old when I met my biological mother for the first time. I can’t forget that day. I went with a friend to the cafe where I was supposed to meet my biological mother. Even though I had never seen her before, as soon as I opened the door [and saw her], I knew she was my mother. I think it took two minutes for me to ask her why she had left me behind.”

Jun Jin added, “At the time, my biological mother had a son who was in elementary school. I didn’t want my existence to cause him pain, so I’ve purposely fallen out of touch [with my biological mother] for now.”
