"YG Treasure Box" Finalists Talk About The Show's Ending And Achieving Their Dream

On January 25, the seven finalists of “YG Treasure Box” held a special V Live broadcast to talk about their experience on the show.

The seven finalists of “YG Treasure Box,” who will make their debut in an upcoming group from YG Entertainment, are Haruto, Bang Yedam, So Junghwan, Kim Junkyu, Park Jeongwoo, Yoon Jaehyuk, and Choi Hyunsuk.

During the show, which was hosted by announcer and MC Jang Sung Kyu, the boys shared their feelings about the ending of “YG Treasure Box.”

Haruto said, “More than anything else, I was really happy that I was picked where my parents could see me. My family came to Korea from Japan, so the result was even more meaningful to me.” When asked if he had changed since going on the show, he said, “I think that I pay more attention to my looks. I pay more attention to my fashion. I check the mirror before I go outside.”

Bang Yedam said, “The training period wasn’t short so I was really happy and relieved to know I would finally be making my debut. I think that it helped me a lot to receive so much support. I could mature by hearing the judgments of people outside my agency.”

So Junghwan said, “When my name came up on the screen, my mind went blank for several seconds. Eventually, I thought, ‘I finally did it.’ There were a lot of times where I had to show my dancing skills, but the other members helped me a lot and I think I improved.”

Kim Junkyu said, “When my name came up, I think that all the strength in my body gave out. It was like a dream. I was so happy that I would be able to show more of myself to people. I think that my confidence has changed. After receiving a lot of support, my confidence has gone up. I’ve become ambitious to show a cooler side of myself.”

Park Jeongwoo said, “I was at home and I checked at 11 p.m. and I saw that my name had come up. I think I teared up a little. I used to have a shy side, but I think what’s changed is that I’ve become less nervous on stage.”

Yoon Jaehyuk said, “I checked [for my name] on the Internet and I could never have imagined the result. I did cry a little. I tried to keep my head clear but the result was so good. I think that I have changed a lot inside.”

Choi Hyunsuk, who was the last member to be selected, said honestly, “It was tough. Honestly, I thought to myself that I didn’t make it. I woke up in the morning and my mom hadn’t gone to work. I’d woken up in the middle of sleeping to check and my mind went blank. I’m so thankful.”

He added, “I think that I was able to find my own uniqueness. I think that I have an unexpected side of me. People who cheer me on seem to like that I can have two contradictory sides of me.”

“YG Treasure Box” is a survival audition program among YG Entertainment trainees that garnered attention for picking the members that will be YG’s first boy group since iKON’s debut four years ago.
