MBC's Lunar New Year Music Variety Show In Talks To Become Regular Program

MBC’s Lunar New Year special “Show that Rewrites the Charts, What is No. 1 Right Now?” (literal title) may have more to show in the future!

According to news outlet Star Today, a source from MBC revealed on February 13, “[The show] is in talks to become a regular program. The situation is not confirmed.”

The Lunar New Year special music variety show brought back songs from the ’80s and ’90s. Singers who were unable to top the charts in the past teamed up with currently-active singers to remake their songs and see if the song can climb the charts again. The episode featured various artists such as MAMAMOO’s Solar and iKON’s Bobby and Junhoe.

The special performed very strongly in viewership ratings, earning 5.2 percent and 6.1 percent nationwide on February 5 and 6 according to Nielsen Korea.
