Ryu Jun Yeol Talks About His Friendship With Soccer Player Son Heung Min

On March 6, Ryu Jun Yeol attended a press conference for the film “Money” (directed by Park Noo Ri).

In the film, which is about a stock market scam, Ryu Jun Yeol plays a rookie stockbroker named Jo Il Hyun. There is a scene in the film where his character cheers on Son Heung Min, a South Korean soccer player who plays for the English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur.

Ryu Jun Yeol, who is friends with Son Heung Min in real life, said, “It was projecting myself a little bit onto the character, which can be fun as long as there are no problems that come from that. The public has already found out about my relationship with Son Heung Min through the press, though, so I don’t know how they’ll react [to the scene].”

The actor added, “I met him not too long ago and we had a good talk. We talk about when he loses or wins and I talk about when my movies do well or don’t do well. He also says he talks a lot to his colleagues. He watches over me affectionately. He helped me with ‘Money.’ He’s the type that judges fairly and critically, so I’m looking forward to hearing what he has to say.”

“Money,” which also stars Yoo Ji Tae, Jo Woo Jin, and Won Jin Ah, premieres in South Korea on March 20.
