2PM's Junho Shares Why He Chose New Drama

2PM’s Junho opened up about his upcoming drama “Confession,” speaking about why he chose the drama, his experience on set so far, and more.

tvN’s new weekend drama “Confession,” which is set to premiere on March 23, will be based on the rule of double jeopardy, where you can’t be tried for the same crime twice, and the veiled truths that surround it. The drama is drawing anticipation as another well-made tvN drama that will follow the likes of “Signal” and “Forest of Secrets.”

In the drama, Junho will play the role of Choi Do Hyun, who becomes a lawyer in order to save his father on death row. Though he may appear soft on the outside, he has a core has sturdy as a rock, and his character will be a charismatic individual with a keen insight.

Junho revealed that he decided to appear in the drama for its fast-paced storyline that whisks you away. He explained, “I was able to read the script for the first three parts of the drama, and I was immediately captivated by the thrilling and tense storyline. Reading the script, I knew it was going to be a challenge, but it also made me feel a sense of anticipation of, ‘How would it feel if I could pull this off perfectly?'” He continued to explain, “Because of the subject matter, people might think the atmosphere on set will be tense, but it isn’t. It’s actually very peaceful.”

In order to perfectly portray his character, Junho is putting his all into the preparation process. He explained, “One of my acquaintances used to be a lawyer, and I have a friend who is in the legal field. So I got a lot of advice from them on legal terminology. I also tried to watch a lot of dramas and films that take place in a court to become more familiar with the environment.” Junho added, “I’ve been building up an image of Choi Do Hyun that takes into consideration his background, occupation, and situation. I am doing my best to bring him to life.”

Junho also showed that he has formed a strong bond of trust with his director and co-star. About Kim Chul Kyu, who will be directing the drama, he stated, “He’s a man of few words. Despite that, if there’s something that he wants, he is very clear with his direction. I feel like I’m doing homework every day these days. He hasn’t actually ever given me homework, but that’s how I feel. I just trust him.” About his co-star Yoo Jae Myung, “Junho said, “He’s very gentle. I like how I’m able to talk to him about acting very comfortably, and I’m able to learn a lot from him. I’m happy to have been able to meet him through his drama.”

Finally, Junho revealed what viewers should look for as they watch “Confession.” He said, “Viewers who enjoy legal or investigative dramas should really watch our drama. Personally, I think what really drives dramas in this genre are the cases. The greater the cases, the more a drama draws you in, and I think our drama will succeed in drawing viewers in.”

“Confession” is set to premiere on tvN on March 23.
