Longtime Idol Vocalist Takes "The King Of Mask Singer" By Storm With His Talent

One contestant on MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer” came close to dethroning the current champion Klimt!

On the March 10 broadcast, contestant Chang Young Sil faced off against Newton in the first round. Together, they performed a charming duet of TVXQ’s “Hug,” with Chang Young Sil moving on to continue in the competition.

In the second round, Chang Young Sil went up against contestant Ieung Jieut with a sweet cover of Gummy’s “We Should’ve Been Friends.” Successfully captivating the audience with his rendition, Chang Young Sil beat his competitor and moved on to the next round.

For his third piece, Chang Young Sil chose to sing Jung Joon Il’s “Next Winter.” Once again, he charmed the audience with his soothing voice and garnered more votes than his third-round opponent Classes to Begin.

However, reigning champion Klimt managed to hold their ground in the final round, leaving Chang Young Sil to reveal his identity. He turned out to be none other than Super Junior’s Ryeowook!

Ryeowook previously competed on the “The King of Mask Singer” three years ago. Regarding his reappearance, he commented, “It definitely feels different.” When asked if he had any new wishes, the idol shared he’d also love to appear on the show as a panelist as well.

After the program aired, the Super Junior member took to Instagram to share more of his thoughts.

He wrote, “Hello~ It’s Super Junior’s Ryeowook. ‘Chang Young Sil’ was me, Ryeonggu, Ryeowook!!!! It was my first time in three years or so challenging ‘The King of Mask Singer’ again. I unfortunately lost in the final round, but it was fun and I was happy to be able to wear a new mask and solely showcase my voice all on its own. I will continue to be someone who tries hard to bring you many good songs. Please look out forward to it. We are Super Juni-or.”
