T-ara's Hyomin Explains Why She Always Reads Comments

On the latest episode of JTBC’s “Let’s Eat Dinner Together,” T-ara’s Hyomin revealed that she doesn’t shy away from reading comments about herself.

The singer appeared as a guest on the March 20 broadcast of the variety show, which follows celebrities as they wander the streets of a neighborhood in search of someone who will invite them into their home for a meal. Hyomin teamed up with host Kang Ho Dong, and the two stars successfully managed to find a family that was willing to take them in for dinner.

While enjoying their meal together, Kang Ho Dong brought up the subject of hate comments, and Hyomin remarked, “I try to look for positive comments [about myself].” One of their dinner hosts kindly told Hyomin, “Pay no attention to hate comments. You don’t need to read things that aren’t good for your mental health.”

Hyomin responded by sharing that she personally chose to read comments about herself, explaining that it was worth suffering through the hate comments to see the nice things people had written about her. “If I don’t read comments at all,” she said, “I won’t be able to see the good ones. So I always read them.”

She went on, “When I see positive [comments], they give me strength.”

When asked if there was a specific positive comment that stood out in her memory, Hyomin replied, “I remember all the nice comments [written about me]. But amongst them, I sometimes see comments that say things like ‘I have to acknowledge that she’s consistent in working hard.’ Those kinds of things are a huge source of strength for me.”

Hyomin most recently made a comeback last month with her new solo mini album “Allure.”
