Film Star "Yang" Arrested On Suspicions Of Drug Use + Yang Se Jong, Yang Dong Geun, And More Deny Involvement

An actor identified by his last name “Yang” has been arrested on suspicions of drug use.

According to a report by news agency Yonhap News, police were dispatched around 3 a.m. KST after receiving 112 calls that Yang had been running around the road near a hotel in Nonhyeon neighborhood of Seoul.

Police brought Yang, who showed abnormal behavior such as talking in gibberish, to the police station. The report also revealed that Yang had tested positive for Philopon (a form of methamphetamine) after taking a drug test.

The Gangnam Police Station has requested a thorough investigation into Yang’s drug use and is currently investigating drug-buying conduits and accompanying drug users.

It was also reported that Yang has recently appeared in famous films and public broadcast network (SBS, KBS, MBC) dramas.

Following the news, several actors with the last name “Yang” were questioned by the media about their involvement in the case.

Yang Se Jong’s agency stated, “Yang Se Jong is currently filming a drama. He has nothing to do with actor Yang who is being suspected of using Philopon.”

Yang Dong Geun’s agency responded, “He’s currently on set for a drama,” while Yang Ik Joon’s company commented, “He’s currently at Marronnier Park [a park located in the Daehangno district of Seoul].”

Yang Hyun Min’s agency also denied the actor’s involvement, saying, “There is nothing of that sort.” Yang Joo Ho’s company similarly commented, “Yang Joo Ho is definitely not the actor who used drugs. He’s currently filming without any problems. It’s alarming that speculative rumors have suddenly appeared.”
