Watch: Nam Tae Hyun and Ladies’ Code Impress With Their Performances On “Immortal Songs”
The April 13 broadcast paid homage to composer and singer Kim Jong Hwan with performances from Ladies’ Code and Nam Tae Hyun, as well as Lee Se Jun, Kim So Hyun and Son Jun Ho, Lee Chang Min, and Jannabi.
Nam Tae Hyun wowed the audience and fellow guests with his explosive voice and emotions in his cover of Noh Sa Yeon’s “Wind,” a song written by Kim Jong Hwan. He received ample praise from his senior artists, who complimented his ability to express the story within the lyrics and bring his own color to the song despite his young age. Kim Jong Hwan also noted his vocal prowess and applauded his interpretation of the song. Nam Tae Hyun remained modest and explained that he prepared to convey the maturity of “Wind” by thinking of his mother.
Ladies’ Code brought a different flavor to the lineup with their cover of Min Hae Kyung’s “Miniskirt.” Ahead of their performance, Ashley shared her personal connection with the episode’s featured artist, saying, “My father was a band vocalist, so he often sang Kim Jong Hwan’s songs.” They worked with producer TAK to create a fun EDM version of “Miniskirt” with a retro twist that made the audience dance along in their seats. Lee Chang Min complimented the performance by commenting, “It was a welcome stage that reminded me of Ladies’ Code’s ‘Pretty Pretty.'” The group was also praised by Kim Jong Hwan himself, who commented, “The fresh arrangement was very impressive.”
