Park Jin Young's Stock Holdings Rise In Value As Lee Soo Man's And Yang Hyun Suk's Fall

According to a new report, JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin Young has overtaken Lee Soo Man to become the Korean celebrity with the highest-valued stock holdings.

On April 21, the Korean website chaebul.com published a new list of the celebrities who hold the highest-valued shares of stock in their companies.

The report declared that as of April 18, the value of Park Jin Young’s 17.8 percent stake in JYP Entertainment had risen by 1.0 percent since the end of 2018. The singer-producer’s stock holdings in the company are currently estimated to be worth 192.2 billion won (approximately $169.1 million).

Meanwhile, SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo Man and YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk both saw decreases in the value of their stock holdings since the end of 2018. As of April 18, JYP Entertainment was the only company out of the three agencies to still have a market capitalization exceeding 1 trillion won.

Lee Soo Man, who was the Korean celebrity with the highest-valued stock holdings at the end of 2018, took second place on the list after seeing a 21.1 percent decrease in the value of his holdings in SM Entertainment. His stock holdings in the company are currently estimated to be worth 181.8 billion won (approximately $159.9 million).

Yang Hyun Suk came in at third place on the list, with his stake in YG Entertainment estimated to be worth 126.3 billion won (approximately $111.1 million) after falling 20.3 percent in value since the end of 2018.

Fourth on the list was actor Bae Yong Joon, who currently holds 37.9 billion won (approximately $33.3 million) worth of SM Entertainment stock after selling a controlling stake of his agency KeyEast to the company in early 2018. The actor saw the same 21.1 percent decrease in the value of his stock holdings as Lee Soo Man.

Finally, FNC Entertainment founder Han Sung Ho, who holds a 22.02 percent stake in the company, enjoyed a 14.6 percent increase in the value of his stock holdings since the end of 2018. His holdings in the company are currently estimated to be worth 28.6 billion won (approximately $25.2 million).
