Yoo Hee Yeol Names BTS And Cho Yong Pil As Guests He Wants To Have On

On April 23, Yoo Hee Yeol attended a press conference to commemorate the 10th anniversary of KBS’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” (hereafter “Sketchbook”) along with producing directors Jo Joon Hee and Park Ji Young.

Yoo Hee Yeol gave two reasons to why he personally thinks the program was able to air for a long time. He explained, “[Many people] consider ‘Sketchbook’ as an independent program, but it is a music talk show that has been on KBS since 1992. It has maintained its concept [as a music talk show] for over 20 years, and I’ve also appeared on it [as a guest].”

He continued, “There were many times [the program] faced crisis due to budget problems or its competitors. Every time, many producing directors at KBS took [the program’s] side and argued that it must survive.”

Yoo Hee Yeol added that the guests are the other reason why the program was able to maintain its spot for a decade. He said, “[Guests] tell us that it is an honor just to be able to appear on ‘Sketchbook.’ I think they consider [the program] as an important entity in the music industry.”

When he was asked which artist he would like to invite onto the show, Yoo Hee Yeol answered, “I receive this question all the time. I’ve always only mentioned one person whom I want to invite. It’s Cho Yong Pil, even though he has never responded.”

He continued, “However, I would like to add one more team to my list today. BTS is one of the junior artists who hasn’t come on ‘Sketchbook.’ They are topping Billboard charts right now, and I would like to see what kind of people they are after inviting them onto the show.”

“Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,” which premiered on April 24, 2009, will be airing a special episode on April 26 to commemorate their 10th anniversary. The episode will invite guests including Kim Hyun Chul, Crush, BOL4, and Wussami.
