Newkidd's Ji Hansol Talks About UNB Members' Support For His Debut

On April 23, new boy group Newkidd held a showcase to celebrate the release of their debut single.

Yunmin said, “The Newkidd members trained while trusting in each other, so I’m happy that we got to debut like this. I want to show people what Newkidd has to offer.”

Ji Hansol said, “Unlike our two preview albums, [our debut single] has some really powerful choreography. We would practice until the sun rose. But because we practiced so much, we have a unique affection for this song. This album is priceless because of the work that our members have put into it.”

Ji Hansol made waves when he appeared on the KBS survival program “The Unit,” where he qualified to debut in the project group UNB.

“The UNB members have a group chatroom,” he said during the showcase. “When I told them I was making my official debut, the members congratulated me and told me to do well. They supported me a lot.”

Newkidd also shared that their role model is BTS. Newkidd had previously performed a cover of BTS’s “DNA” at a ceremony in which BTS was present. Yunmin said, “We were really nervous to be performing in front of our seniors, but I want to thank them for enjoying the performance and clapping for us.”

Jinkwon added, “We staged the performance with the mindset of becoming amazing musicians like BTS.”

Newkidd’s debut single album will be officially released on April 25 at 6 p.m. KST. Check out their teasers here!
