Testimony From Further Witnesses Obtained For Jang Ja Yeon's Sexual Abuse Case

More witnesses have come forward with testimony in regards to the late actress Jang Ja Yeon’s sexual abuse case.

On April 23, it was reported that the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office’s Investigative Team of Past Affairs has issued a statement in which they effectively said that an investigation is needed in regards to suspicions that Jang Ja Yeon was a victim of aggravated rape (in this case, a term used to mean sexual assault under the influence of drugs).

A representative from the team stated, “We have obtained testimony from several sources other than her colleague actress Yoon Ji Oh. Their testimony states that Jang Ja Yeon was forced to entertain at drinking parties under the influence of drugs.”

Yoon Ji Oh has said on recent broadcasts that it was possible that Jang Ja Yeon had been sexually assaulted under the influence of drugs. The team has stated that they received similar testimony from other people.

They went on to explain that they were not able to outright recommend investigation because they could not obtain evidence that substantiates the suspicions, such as the time of the incident or concrete location. They added, “It is advisable that the prosecution consider whether to open an investigation.”

It’s also reported that a considerable number of members of the team had opposed the outright stating of a need for an investigation, due to the lack of concrete evidence.

Separately from this, the team stated the definite need for an investigation into suspicions of false testimony by Jang Ja Yeon’s agency CEO Kim. He spoke as a witness at the 2012 and 2013 trials of politician Lee Jong Gul for charges of defamation. Kim stated at the trials that Jang Ja Yeon had not been assaulted.
