Watch: "Produce X 101" Trainees Face Off With Covers Of EXO, BTS, And More

“Produce X 101” began its intense “Group X Battle” in the May 17 episode!

The contestants formed teams that would face off with another team performing a song by the same boy group. The boy groups that the trainees covered for the mission were BTS, EXO, GOT7, NCT U, Wanna One, NU’EST W, SEVENTEEN, and MONSTA X, and each battle included a team performing the group’s debut song versus a team performing a popular song by the group.

This week’s episode revealed the full battle between the two teams performing EXO songs (“Love Shot” and “MAMA”), and also showed that the trainees performing “Love Shot” won the battle. In studio audience votes, Kim Woo Seok of the “Love Shot” team took first place with 210 votes, while Hwang Yun Seong received the highest for the “MAMA” team with 99 votes.

The performance by the team covering BTS’s “No More Dream” was also shown, with the full performance by the “Blood Sweat & Tears” team to be aired next week, along with the reveal of the battle’s winner.

In addition, “Produce X 101” also previewed the performances by the teams covering NCT U’s “Boss” and GOT7’s “Lullaby” through short clips. It appears that due to a technical issue during the “Lullaby” performance, Song Yu Vin’s microphone was not working properly.
