2011 medical drama “Sign” will be getting a Japanese remake!

On May 28, SBS shared, “The Japanese version of ‘Sign’ will air on TV Asahi starting July, and popular Japanese actor Omori Nao will play the leading role.” Omori Nao is a talented actor who has starred in seasons one and two of “Konodori” and the film “Parasyte: Part 1.”

“Sign” follows the story of the taciturn genius medical examiner (played by Park Shin Yang) and the female rookie medical examiner (played by Kim Ah Joong) standing up to those who are trying to hide the truth. “Sign” was also Korea’s first drama about forensic medicine, and according to Nielsen Korea, the drama achieved 22.5 percent in viewership ratings nationwide at its best. The drama also won the Presidential Award at the Korea Content Awards.

Omori Nao commented, “There is definitely pressure as I enjoyed watching the fast-paced Korean drama, the original version. With this Japanese version, I want to advance myself to another level to add another color to the project. Please look forward to it a lot as I am putting in all of my effort.”

Dramas including “Signal,” “Misaeng,” and “Good Doctor” have been remade in Japan, and now “Sign” will be joining the growing list.
