tvN’s newest weekend drama “Arthdal Chronicles” premiered on June 1 after garnering high expectations for its remarkable cast including Song Joong Ki and Jang Dong Gun as well as its impressive production cost of 54 billion won (approximately $45.4 million).

According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode recorded average ratings of 6.7 percent and peaked at 8 percent, taking first place for all dramas in its time slot, including non-cable broadcasting stations.

In the demographic of men and women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, the drama gathered average ratings of 4.9 percent and peaked at 6 percent. For women in their forties, the ratings were much higher with an average of 9.9 percent and the most-viewed moment reaching 12.4 percent.

tvN’s “Arthdal Chronicles” airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9 p.m. KST.
