Kim Eun Sook’s Upcoming Fantasy Romance Adds Jung Eun Chae To Cast Lineup

Actress Jung Eun Chae has been cast in the upcoming drama “The King: The Eternal Monarch” (literal title), written by Kim Eun Sook and directed by Baek Sang Hoon (“Descendants of the Sun“). Jung Eun Chae joins Lee Min Ho, Kim Go Eun, Woo Do Hwan, and Kim Kyung Nam in the cast.

“The King: The Eternal Monarch” is a fantasy about two parallel universes, one a monarchy and one a democracy. Emperor Lee Gon (played by Lee Min Ho) goes against the devil and tries to close the door that opens into a parallel world, while detective Jung Tae Eul (played by Kim Go Eun) fights to protect people’s lives and those she loves. As the emperor and the detective work together across worlds, a romance begins.

Jung Eun Chae plays Gu Seo Ryung, the youngest female prime minister of the Korean monarchy under Lee Gon. Gu Seo Ryung pursues success at all costs and makes her new target the emperor, creating tension between Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul.

The drama will begin filming later this year, with an expected premiere date sometime in the first half of 2020.
