Woollim Entertainment Forwards Malicious Commenters To Prosecution

Woollim Entertainment has taken strong legal action on malicious comments and rumors.

On June 26, the agency released the following statement:

Hello. This is Woollim Entertainment.

First of all, we express gratitude to the fans who send lots of interest and love to the Woollim Entertainment artists.

We previously announced on December 26, 2018 that legal action will be taken on the spread of false rumors, malicious comments, sexual harassment, and defamation of our artists. Through the active cooperation of fans and our own monitoring, we gathered and legally reviewed posts with false rumors, sexual harassment, insults, and defamation that are being spread online and on social media.

Based on the “defamation” (Article 311 of the Criminal Law) and “groundless libel” (Article 70, Clause 2 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection) laws, we have filed criminal complaints on 41 posts against those who published the thoughtless and malicious words about our artists. The suspects who wrote the malicious posts have been identified through the quick investigation of the authorities and have now been forwarded to the prosecution with recommendation for indictment.

We anticipate that all of the confirmed suspects will receive punishment according to the legal procedure, and we will also take civil action in addition to criminal penalties.

Through continuous data collection and monitoring, we will focus all of our efforts to protect our artists so additional harm does not occur. We will also continue taking strong legal action without any negotiation.
