New BTS Game Reportedly In Development By Netmarble Monster
A new BTS game is in the works!
On July 15, MTN reported that Netmarble’s developer studio Netmarble Monster is working on something new using BTS’s intellectual property (IP).
BTS’s recent mobile game BTS WORLD was produced by Netmarble but developed by the external game developer Takeone Company. MTN reports that the game did not meet expectations commercially for a game about BTS and produced by Netmarble.
The reported developer this time around, Netmarble Monster, has created popular games including “Monster Taming,” “Marvel: Future Fight,” and more.
Netmarble Monster is currently recruiting team members for a new work that will use BTS’s IP. On a job recruiting site, the studio posted a call for those with qualifications that include “a high understanding of BTS as an ARMY” and “a high understanding of female-oriented games.”
While it was previously stated that Netmarble has plans to create new works using BTS’s IP other than BTS WORLD, there were no concrete details announced.
MTN reports that while BTS WORLD became a hot topic, it didn’t meet expectations in terms of profits. It surpassed 1 million downloads globally in a short amount of time and reached about 400,000 reviews, but it didn’t achieve an expected increase in users or sales. MTN states that the low sales success of BTS WORLD isn’t due to an overcharging model within the game or a below-average level of content.
Regarding BTS WORLD, Netmarble stated, “Based on the particular nature of the genre of BTS WORLD, it’s important for it to be loved for a long time by its users rather than achieve short-term results. For this to happen, we will provide an abundance of content through future updates for users to enjoy.” The company also stated that they will be putting much effort into producing the new work.
