6 Wacky K-Dramas That Will Make You Belly Laugh

Over-exaggerated humor is one of those things where some people hate it and some people can’t get enough of it. Silly situations and funny banter are commonly seen in many K-dramas, but have you ever seen a drama that had such a wacky sense of humor that it made you double over in laughter? If you ever need a good laugh and distraction from the struggles of life, then these dramas are perfect for you!

Warning: the camp is strong in these dramas. If you can’t handle over-exaggerated humor, better look elsewhere.

The Fiery Priest

How does Kim Nam Gil go from making a charming gaze to a derpy facial expression? Pure talent. “The Fiery Priest” is one of the best dramas to watch if you’re in the mood for justice being served, parodies left and right, ridiculous comedy, and heartfelt moments of friendship and community. Some viewers have commented that this drama feels like watching a comic book come to life, and I can’t say they’re wrong. Every single character (even the minor roles) has their own unique quirks, so if you’re in the mood to watch something that will make you burst out laughing non-stop, then definitely check this drama out!

Chief Kim

If you’ve already seen “The Fiery Priest” and loved it, then you have to check out “Chief Kim.” Written by the same writer, “Chief Kim” has that same wacky, almost comic book type humor with a big focus on taking down the bad guys while making great friendships on the side. The quirk equally shines in this drama, and it’s great to see every character have their own hobbies or traits, whether it be Seo Yool (2PM’s Junho) and his snacking or Yoon Ha Kyung (Nam Sang Mi) and her batting cage. It feels like we’re not just watching a plot unfold, we’re watching and really getting to know the lovable and hilarious people in this drama world.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

“Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” also channels comical vibes, as it tells the story of a quirky young woman named Bong Soon (Park Bo Young) who is gifted with superhuman strength. Armed with the power to protect people, Bong Soon gets into some hilarious situations and says some hilarious things, and the satisfactory moments of her showcasing her strength often come with hilarious expressions of those who witness (or unfortunately experience) her power. From the male lead (Park Hyung Sik) to the supporting characters, everyone in this drama is a little wacky, and I’m all here for it!

Modern Farmer

Okay, if you thought the previous dramas weren’t wacky enough, then be prepared for the craziness that is “Modern Farmer.” Starring Lee Hong Ki, Kwak Dong YeonPark Min Woo, Lee Si Eon, and Honey Lee, “Modern Farmer” tells the story of a once-popular yet now disbanded rock band with the name Exo, which stands for Excellent Souls (you can already tell how the humor in this drama is going to be). When the main singer Min Ki (Lee Hong Ki) inherits his grandmother’s old farm, he brings along his old bandmates for a money-making opportunity of a lifetime…in the countryside. From accidentally burning down houses, stealing apples, to peeing in the village’s clean water source, there’s never a dull moment when it comes to these derps as they strive to achieve their dream.

Top Star Yoo Baek

When the drama is about a megastar actor named Yoo Baek (Kim Ji Suk) who ends up stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere, you know you’re in for a hilarious ride. “Top Star Yoo Baek” isn’t as wacky in comparison to some of the other dramas on this list, but the reactions that the elderly people in the village have to Yoo Baek’s over-the-top cocky attitude and his time adjusting to the countryside is what makes this drama so ridiculously funny. From drying old fish on a surfboard, talking to goats, to Yoo Baek’s misinterpretations of the countryside lingo, you don’t want to miss his life on this island!

Unstoppable High Kick

Boasting a great cast of Park Min Young, Jung Il Woo, Kim Bum, Na Moon Hee, Lee Soon Jae, and more, “Unstoppable High Kick” is an older show that’s a classic watch. During its run, the drama was so funny and popular that it ended up with two spin-offs following its conclusion, which is pretty impressive considering dramas don’t even often get second seasons!

The situations that the characters get into are so funny that during some episodes you might even end up crying from all the laughter. And because it’s a sitcom, you’ll get to enjoy the running gags that continue to make an appearance throughout all the episodes, like Kim Bum and Kim Hye Sung‘s overly dramatic bromance or Seo Min Jung’s crazy consistent clumsiness.
