Yoon Kyun Sang And Geum Sae Rok Share Thoughts On Portraying Teachers In “Mr. Temporary”
On July 16, Yoon Kyun Sang, Geum Sae Rok, UKISS’s Jun, Choi Yoo Hwa, Choi Kyu Jin, Han So Eun, Kim Myung Ji, and producing director (PD) Sung Yong Il attended the press conference for this upcoming OCN series.
“Mr. Temporary” is a thriller about a mysterious murder that occurs at an elite high school and a sly lawyer who sneaks into the school as a new teacher in order to uncover the truth.
In the series, Yoon Kyun Sang appears as lawyer Gi Moo Hyuk while Geum Sae Rok portrays physical education teacher Ha So Yeon.
“[My character] is a snobby, ace lawyer from a law firm so there was a part of him that was sly and fickle,” said Yoon Kyun Sang. “The lawyer hits rock bottom and becomes a teacher. Although I wasn’t portraying two roles, I tried not to place a big difference between the two. The sly lawyer is changing through many conversations with the director. Since he’s a lawyer, there are many scenes where I’m in the courtroom or talking about the law. It may look unprofessional if the lines aren’t delivered well or if it’s awkward, so I tried to pay attention to that part.”
When asked about portraying a teacher, the actor replied, “Until doing this project, I thought that I could still portray a high school student. But while working with [younger actors], I realized that I can no longer do so.”
In response to a question about viewership ratings, Yoon Kyun Sang stated, “I’ve never worried about viewership ratings. I like acting and I like working together on set. I’ve worried and had difficulty when those things haven’t worked out, but there has never been a time where I suffered because of viewership ratings so I’m not sure. If I and our team do a good job, then I think many people will look at us positively.”
“When I received the offer, I thought that I would be wearing a uniform and felt regretful when I heard that I’d be portraying a teacher,” said Geum Sae Rok. “I’m only a year older than Han So Eun. I also want to wear a uniform.”
She continued, “I worried a lot about appearing too young as a teacher when talking with the director, so I cut my hair and mentally prepared in my own way. I developed the mindset of a teacher when I was in the classroom with students.”
“Mr. Temporary” premieres on July 17 at 11 p.m. KST, and will be available on Viki! Check out the trailer below:
