Former BESTie Member Uji Explains Her Endless Tears After Winning On "Immortal Songs"
Former BESTie member Uji talked about her tearful win earlier this month on KBS 2TV’s “Immortal Songs.”
The former idol-turned-musical actress appeared on the July 27 episode of the singing competition, where she participated in the Yoon Shi Nae special. During the episode, she talked about winning the So Chan Whee and Kim Hyun Jung special, which aired on July 6. The victory was especially meaningful because before she finally took home her first trophy, Uji had competed on the show six times and lost every single time.
Back on the July 6 episode, the musical actress burst into tears as soon as her win was announced and continued to cry in the dressing room afterwards.
After introducing Uji on the July 27 episode of the show, MC Jung Jae Hyung said, “You won during your last appearance on the program. I was really worried because you cried so much after your win, to the point where you were bawling the entire time you walked to your dressing room.”
Uji explained, “I used to think a lot about how a day like that would never come for me. At the time, I had never won before, so my goal was to win just once. So when the light came on, [signifying that I had won], I couldn’t stop tearing up.”
She continued, “My parents came to watch as audience members during many of my past ‘Immortal Songs’ appearances. They had never cried seeing my performances before, but they told me that they cried on that day.”
