“Doctor John” Reigns Over Its Time Slot With No. 1 Ratings; “Melo Is My Nature” Premieres To Modest Start
SBS’s “Doctor John” is dominating its time slot!
“Doctor John” is a suspenseful medical drama starring Ji Sung and Lee Se Young as two brilliant doctors specializing in pain management. Ji Sung plays the role of Cha Yo Han, a genius anesthesiologist who is famous for his ability to assess patients in just 10 seconds, while Lee Se Young stars as Kang Si Young, a highly intelligent anesthesiology resident with a painful past.
According to Nielsen Korea, the August 9 episode of the drama scored average viewership ratings of 7.9 percent and 10.3 percent nationwide. Not only did the ratings mark a substantial increase from its previous episode the night before, but they also marked the highest ratings in its time slot by far.
MBC’s “My Little Television 2,” which aired during the same time slot, scored average ratings of 2.2 percent and 3.7 percent for the night, while KBS 2TV’s “Let’s Go, Man Soo Ro!” (literal translation) scored average ratings of 1.6 percent and 1.9 percent.
August 9 also marked the premiere of JTBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Melo Is My Nature,” a romantic comedy that follows three women in their thirties as they attempt to navigate dating and the struggles of their daily lives. The first episode of the drama, which stars Chun Woo Hee, Jeon Yeo Bin, Han Ji Eun, Ahn Jae Hong, and Gong Myung, scored an average viewership rating of 1.790 percent nationwide.
“Doctor John” airs on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m. KST, while “Melo Is My Nature” airs at 10:50 p.m. KST.
