“Produce X 101” Group X1 Lands Spot In Top 10 Of Billboard’s Social 50 Before Debut

X1 entered two of Billboard’s charts before their debut!

The 11-member project group was formed through the Mnet survival show “Produce X 101,” which wrapped up with its finale on July 19. This is the show’s fourth season, and it has created the hit project groups I.O.I, Wanna One, and IZ*ONE. While some fans of those groups have been disappointed in the past by the shorter length of their contracts, “Produce X 101” introduced an extended contract for X1 with a length of five years. Two and a half of those years will be spent exclusively promoting with the group.

Before its launch, one of the goals of the program this season was described as creating a global idol group that would chart on Billboard. On August 13, Billboard updated its weekly charts, and X1 has entered two charts for the first time, even before their official debut.

X1 takes No. 6 on the Social 50 chart, which Billboard describes as a “ranking of the most active artists on the world’s leading social networking sites. Artists’ popularity is determined by a formula blending their weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views and weekly song plays, as measured by Next Big Sound.”

On the Emerging Artists chart, X1 grabs the No. 11 spot. This chart ranks the most popular “developing” artists of the week by using the same formula as the Artist 100, which combines artist activity across several Billboard charts including the Hot 100, Billboard 200, and Social 50.

While the Artist 100 ranks the most popular artists overall, the Emerging Artists chart excludes those who have already ranked in the Top 25 of the Hot 100 or Billboard 200 or have notched two or more Top 10 releases on Billboard’s “Hot” song genre rankings or the consumption-based “Top” album genre charts.

X1 includes members Han Seung Woo, Kim Yo Han, Kim Woo Seok, Song Hyeong Jun, Cho Seung Youn, Son Dong Pyo, Lee Han Gyul, Nam Do Hyon, Cha Jun Ho, Kang Min Hee, and Lee Eun Sang. They’ll make their debut on August 27 when they release the mini album “Quantum Leap.” Check out their teasers here!
