tvN’s “New Journey to the West 7” has reportedly postponed filming for its upcoming season.

On August 24, Korean media outlet Star News reported that according to an industry insider, “New Journey to the West” was originally scheduled to begin filming its seventh season sometime in the second half of this year. However, the variety program is said to have since pushed back its plans for filming.

According to the report, the decision to postpone filming was completely unrelated to the recent news of cast member Ahn Jae Hyun’s potential divorce from his wife Ku Hye Sun. Instead, the industry insider stated that because the various cast members’ schedules for this year were already packed with prior engagements, the “New Journey to the West 7” producers agreed to postpone their plans for the time being. The producers are reportedly in the midst of discussing how to go about filming for the upcoming season, while continuously checking in with the cast about their availability.

A spokesperson for tvN responded by stating, “Nothing has yet been decided in terms of filming for ‘New Journey to the West 7’ or its cast lineup.” The broadcast network added, “At the moment, we cannot confirm anything about the program.”

Earlier this week, tvN responded similarly to questions about whether Ahn Jae Hyun would be appearing in the upcoming season, stating that they could not confirm or deny anything about the show.
