MARMELLO Announces Disbandment
Girl band MARMELLO has announced their disbandment after two years of promoting together.
On September 2, the members took to Instagram to relay the news and thank their fans Marmalade for their support. Guitarist Youna posted a statement in both Korean and English saying, “The reason for the dismantling is not [just one] reason, but a combination of various things, so it is difficult to explain. I’m very sorry that I have not been able to repay the love I have received and have a disappointing answer to your waiting.”
She continued, “The love and attention I received during my activities were undeserved and filled with dream stages and unforgettable memories. [To the] many people who helped with the production and activities, Marmalade who always supported and loved [us], fellow musicians who helped us with our music, and our MARMELLO members, [I am] very thankful and grateful.”
She concluded by saying, “Now we are talking about the end, but in the meantime, we were preparing for a new start. I hope you will be able to watch and cheer for us as we dream new dreams in another place.”
Drummer Gaeun stated in her post, “I’m very sorry to be delivering this unfortunate news after not greeting you for a long time. After long discussions between the members, MARMELLO has decided to stop activities.”
She thanked fans and promised to meet them again soon, saying, “It was because of all of you who made MARMELLO shine that I was able to make precious and unforgettable memories. I played drums while receiving so much love and gaining various experiences. Please cheer on the other members as we go our separate ways. I have also been preparing to stand before you again, so please look kindly on my future activities.”
Vocalist Hyeona said in her post, “The times we spent promoting were very fun and meaningful. I am really sorry and thankful for our fans who have been waiting for news of our activities. Although MARMELLO’s activities have concluded, this will be a new start in which we each take steps towards our dreams. I would be grateful if you can cheer us on.”

MARMELLO debuted on May 24, 2017 as a 5-member girl band under Rolling CultureOne with their song “Puppet.” They went on to release “Can’t Stop” and “Wake Me Up,” and also participated in the cheering album for the 2018 Korean National Football Team.
