TVXQ's Changmin Makes Meaningful Donation To Help Combat Amazon Rainforest Fires

TVXQ’s Changmin has stepped up to help with the fires that have been raging in the Amazon rainforest.

On September 9, the Seoul office of Greenpeace stated, “TVXQ’s Changmin recently donated 70 million won (approximately $58,700) to help restoration efforts at the site of the Amazon fires, as well as to help assess the environmental impact.” The funds come from sales of a collaboration between Changmin and Represent in May, where they released a fashion item designed by Changmin under the theme of environmental protection with a portion of sales to be donated to a charitable cause.

Changmin is known to donate regularly to help children and low-income families, and he stated, “The theme of the project was to return our earth to its original, beautiful state, and I hope this donation is able to help the environment in any way.”

Chae Jung Ah, the director of donations of the Greenpeace Seoul office stated, “The Amazon rainforest has been plagued by widespread fires for over a month now, and the damages are significant,” and “With a donation from TVXQ’s Changmin, who is loved dearly both in and outside of Korea, we hope that more people will become aware of the damages that the Amazon rainforest has incurred, and hopefully try to do their best to help.”

The Seoul office also added, “The fires are not an issue that just affects the wildlife and people of Brazil. The gases emitted from the fires will have a fatal impact on the atmosphere, and it will cause severe damages to the world as a whole.”
