Watch: Song Joong Ki And Kim Ji Won Try To Imitate Different Korean Dialects While Filming “Arthdal Chronicles”
tvN’s “Arthdal Chronicles” has released a new behind-the-scenes video of its cast!
The tvN drama, starring Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won, Jang Dong Gun, and Kim Ok Bin, tells the story of heroes who write their own legends in the mythical land of Arth. Parts 1 and 2 aired earlier this summer.
In the clip, Kim Ok Bin and Jang Dong Gun hold hands as they shoot a serious scene together. Although their first take was acceptable, the director insists on shooting another one. Jang Dong Gun smiles and agrees without hesitation.
Later, Song Joong Ki, Kim Sung Cheol, and Tae Won Suk notice the camera man and joke, “It’s the first time I’ve seen that camera director. Who are you?” When Song Joong Ki comments, “Why are you pretending to film us when the red light isn’t even on?” the camera man flips over the monitoring screen, causing the three actors to straighten up and politely introduce their characters.
Kim Ji Won later learns how to speak the Chungcheong dialect with Song Joong Ki. When she adds in the “yoo” ending that is commonly associated with the dialect, he responds, “You don’t do the ‘yoo‘ ending! Instead of ‘yoo,’ say ‘yeo.'” They then pretend to fight, with Kim Ji Won asking in standard dialect, “Why did you do that?” Song Joong Ki immediately uses the Chungcheong dialect and responds, “What is she going on about?” causing everyone to burst out into laughter.
The clip switches to Song Joong Ki shooting a scene where he calls out the name “Satenic” multiple times. He smiles as he jokes, “I’m happy to suddenly hear Korean.”
