TV Schedule Changes This Week Due To Chuseok Holiday

Chuseok, the Korean equivalent of Thanksgiving, falls on September 13 this year. As done every year, broadcasting stations have prepared a variety of special programming in celebration of the holiday.

Here are the special programs and scheduling changes to watch out for this week:

Tuesday, September 10

SBS will air the Chuseok special programBTS Variety Chronicles,” which will feature an entertaining collection of BTS’s greatest moments on various SBS variety shows. This will air at 10 p.m. KST, which is the time slot usually held by “Little Forest.”

Wednesday, September 11

MBC drama “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung” will not be airing and will be replaced by a special episode of “I Live Alone.” MBN will air the special documentary “Song Hae, Let’s Go Home” (literal title) in the usual time slot held by “Graceful Family.” JTBC will air the film “The Odd Family: Zombie on Sale” in place of “Let’s Eat Dinner Together.” “Show Champion” will air past performances instead of the usual live broadcast.

Thursday, September 12

MBC will air the first part of “2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships – Chuseok Special” at 4:40 p.m. KST. In place of “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung,” MBC will air a special episode of “I Live Alone” and the second episode of the pilot program “Sister’s Salon.” MBN will once again air “Song Hae, Let’s Go Home” in place of “Graceful Family.” In place of the usual live broadcast of “M Countdown,” Mnet is set to broadcast the “KCON 2019 LA” concert.

Friday, September 13

MBC will broadcast the second part of “2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships – Chuseok Special,” and in place of “My Little Television 2,” the film “MAL·MO·E: The Secret Mission” will be broadcast. KBS2 will air last week’s footage of “Music Bank,” which didn’t air due to a weather report, and a Chuseok special karaoke variety show instead of “Entertainment Weekly.” JTBC’s “Begin Again 3” will not air and will be replaced with a broadcast of the film “Dark Figure of Crime.” tvN will air the first episode of the girl group vocalist competition “V-1.”

Saturday, September 14

MBC will broadcast footage from the September 7 recording of “Music Core,” which did not air last week due to news coverage on Typhoon Lingling. KBS2 will broadcast the film “Hit-and-Run Squad” instead of “Battle Trip.” “Ask Us Anything” will be replaced with JTBC’s broadcast of the film “The Great Battle.” tvN will broadcast the second episode of “V-1.” OCN will air the 2018 film “The Negotiation” in the time slot of “Strangers from Hell.”

Sunday, September 15

SBS’s “Inkigayo” will not be airing and will be replaced by a special broadcast of “Baek Jong Won’s Alley Restaurant.” JTBC’s pilot program “GOSTOP” will air in place of “Camping Club.” The final episode of tvN’s Chuseok special program “V-1” will be broadcast. OCN’s “Strangers from Hell” will once again not air and will be replaced by a broadcast the film “Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days.”
