Kim Min Joon Opens Up About His Marriage To G-Dragon's Sister Dami Kwon

Actor Kim Min Joon talked about his marriage with G-Dragon’s older sister Dami Kwon, their future plans, and his upcoming acting projects!

On September 10, Kim Min Joon’s agency confirmed that the couple will be getting married in a private ceremony in October, three months after they first revealed their relationship to the public.

In a recent interview with media outlet Hankook Ilbo, the actor jokingly wondered if people would be interested in his marriage news, but showed deep affection for Dami Kwon. He said about the marriage, “Honestly, there was no pressure from my peers to get married quickly. I wasn’t anxious while wondering, ‘Isn’t it too late?’ For older bachelors in their 40s like me, it doesn’t matter if you think we’re thoughtless for not getting married sooner. I’m here now because I wanted to marry [Dami Kwon].”

When asked why he initially hesitated with announcing his marriage, Kim Min Joon said, “My fiancée is a capable and hard-working woman, but I was worried she would be labeled as simply my wife after already just being seen as someone’s sister. Because her younger brother and husband are celebrities, she receives a lot of needless attention. I resolved to do my utmost to protect her.”

He also revealed that he and Dami Kwon recently shot a wedding pictorial. He said, “We weren’t very drawn to the idea of regular wedding photos. We’re planning to reveal [the pictorial] through a magazine. We shot it with the help of a photographer and stylist that I have known for a long time. Because it went according to my personal desires, we’re releasing it through the media. I think the results will be good. I really liked the photos when I saw them at the site.”

As for honeymoon plans, Kim Min Joon stated that they will likely be unable to go because of their busy schedules. He added that they haven’t yet discussed having children.

In conjunction with the wedding, Kim Min Joon is preparing to appear in a new film directed by Cho Jung Rae called “Singer” (literal title), which is said to be historical with musical elements. About his more comfortable and relaxed attitude, he said, “I thought that I need to separate my personal and acting life. I didn’t use to think about it much. My assertions tend to become distorted rather than shown in a positive light, and I wonder if that’s really necessary. I’m very diligent in my work. I think I need to convey my message through good projects.”
