Akdong Musician Explains Decision To Promote As AKMU

Sibling duo Akdong Musician will now be promoting under the name AKMU.

On September 25, they held a press conference ahead of their upcoming album release.

At the event, Lee Soo Hyun shared their reason for making a comeback as AKMU instead of Akdong Musician. She explained, “‘Akdong Musician’ consists of [the Chinese characters] ‘rak’ (‘ak’), meaning ‘fun,’ and ‘dong,’ meaning ‘child.’ We are now both adults, so we took out ‘dong’ to be called ‘AKMU’ in order to not be limited in our future music.”

AKMU’s third full album “SAILING” is set to be released on September 25 at 6 p.m. KST.
