Watch: Yang Se Jong, AOA's Seolhyun, And Woo Do Hwan Gather Their Strength In

JTBC’s “My Country” has released an epic new preview ahead of its first episode!

“My Country” takes place between the end of the Goryeo Dynasty and the beginning of the Joseon Dynasty and tells the story of the conflicts that arise due to people’s desire for power and protection. The drama stars Yang Se Jong, AOA’s Seolhyun, Woo Do Hwan, and Jang Hyuk.

The newly-released clip sheds more light on the backgrounds that shaped the growth of the three main characters. Seo Hwi (played by Yang Se Jong) is shown to have a painful past, having witnessed his father stabbing himself as young child. Over a scene of him dragging a body through a dark forest, he yells angrily, “I went through these obstacles so I wouldn’t have to be treated like this!”

Nam Seon Ho (played by Woo Do Hwan) had a similarly troubled childhood. He was told by his father, “Remember that you’re not nobility nor a slave.” His father reminds him that his father is a nobleman while his mother belongs to the lowest social class. Facing him again as an adult, Nam Seon Ho sheds angry tears.

Han Hee Jae (played by AOA’s Seolhyun) also pushes back against what stands in her way. A woman shouts, “Don’t you think their anger is greater than yours?” and Han Hee Jae righteously declares, “This is how much I suppressed it. My anger doesn’t decrease just because their anger is large.”

The teaser ends with Seo Hwi and Nam Seo Hee storming into the palace. Yi Seong Gye (played by Kim Young Chul) says in challenge, “If you stand, it’s just land under your feet. Only when you walk does it become a path. Make a path.”
