Watch: NCT’s Jaehyun, APRIL’s Naeun, And MONSTA X’s Minhyuk Share Excitement As New “Inkigayo” MCs
The newest MCs of “Inkigayo” shared how excited they are about their new roles and previewed their chemistry!
The idols were asked how they felt when they heard that they were chosen as MCs. Jaehyun answered, “I thought, ‘I should show them something laid back and comfortable.’ I was so happy.” Minhyuk said, “To be honest, I don’t have many friends. Through this opportunity, I can make best friends and I’ll work hard. Please trust me.”
They also shared the reactions of their fellow members. “We were abroad because of a scheduled event and I heard it through a phone call with the manager,” revealed Jaehyun. “I was using the same room as Mark. When I told him that I got this, he said that being the MC of a music program was a good match for me. That’s what he told me.”
Naeun stated, “I haven’t told my members yet. I was going to tell them once we all met up. They don’t know yet, but they have said that being an MC would be a good match for me whenever we went to music programs in the past. Right, guys?”
“Wonho actually really wanted to do this,” said Minhyuk. “But after he heard that I got the job, Wonho congratulated me a lot and said that it would suit me well.”
When asked about their first impressions of each other, Jaehyun replied, “I think we’re all shy. I first felt like we were going to get close slowly.” Naeun added, “When he was doing the radio program ‘NCT’s Night! Night!’ I appeared on the show about two times. As for Minhyuk, our promotions happened at the same time a lot so I feel like we’re internally close.”
Minhyuk explained, “We’re ‘shop friends.’ When I first debuted, I went to the same hair salon as APRIL. I now go to the same salon as NCT, so I feel familiar with them and believe that we’ll get close quickly.”
Concluding with a message to their fans, Jaehyun said, “You were probably surprised. I’ll work hard, so I hope you’ll have fun watching.” Naeun added, “I think our fans also were really surprised and will be really happy. I’ll be able to see our fans every Sunday and you’ll also be able to see our chemistry, so please look forward to it.”
“MONSTA X went overseas a lot these days, so I think our fans at home waited for us a lot,” said Minhyuk. “We’re having a comeback soon and I’ll come see you every Sunday along with our comeback, so let’s see each other often. I also wanted to say thank you for always waiting for us. Thank you.”
At the end, the MCs gave fans a peek of their skills by introducing their respective groups and burst into laughter.
