Update: Actress Chae Min Seo Apologizes After Receiving Sentence For Drunk Driving
Updated October 20 KST:
Actress Chae Min Seo posted an apology letter after it was revealed that she had been sentenced for drunk driving.
On October 19, she wrote on her personal Instagram:
This is Chae Min Seo. First, I have nothing to say for myself except that I’m sorry. The day before the accident, I had a few drinks with an acquaintance. I fell asleep before 9 p.m. and woke up between 4 and 5 a.m. I was short-sighted and thought that I was no longer drunk, so I got behind the wheel. I am deeply reflecting on this.
I was driving in the early morning and was about to make a left turn, not knowing that I was on a one-way street. I suddenly saw the one-way sign and put on my emergency lights. While I was trying to park on the pavement of a closed restaurant, the back wheels of my car did not quite make it on to the pavement. At this time, I slightly hit the passenger side of the victim’s car and caused the accident.
I am writing this because I want to sincerely apologize to the people who have been victimized by my mistake in continuing to get behind the wheel even though I know that I should not drink and drive.
I also want to make sure to tell the truth, as some of the news articles have exaggerated what happened.
Once again, I am sincerely sorry. I did something that should never have been done, so all I can say is that I’m sorry. I will bow my head and reflect on what I’ve done.
I apologized deeply to the victim as well. I am sorry to the victims and to my fans, who supported me.

Actress Chae Min Seo has received her sentence for an accident caused by her drunk driving.
On October 19, Chae Min Seo was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years of probation. She is also required to receive 40 hours of defensive driving class and 120 hours of community service.
The sentence comes after the actress hit a stopped vehicle while driving down a one-way street in Gangnam District in an intoxicated state on March 26 at 6:54 a.m. KST. The driver of the car received injuries that required two weeks to heal. At the time, Chae Min Seo’s blood alcohol content level read 0.063 percent, which is grounds for license suspension.
The court stated, “The defendant already has three priors for drunk driving and has not received forgiveness from the victim.” However, they continued, “The victim’s car was in a stopped state and the defendant was driving at a slow speed, so the damage from the accident was minimal. We also took into account the fact that the defendant’s blood alcohol content level was not very high.”
Chae Min Seo most recently starred in the 2016 film “Camping.” Her last drama appearance was in SBS’s “You Don’t Know Women” in 2010.
