3 Reasons Viewers Can't Help Falling In Love With Ji Chang Wook In

Ji Chang Wook is stealing hearts weekly in his latest drama “Melting Me Softly”!

tvN’s “Melting Me Softly” is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Ma Dong Chan, a variety show producer (played by Ji Chang Wook), and Go Mi Ran, a part-time employee (played by Won Jin Ah), who participate in a project to be frozen for 24 hours. However, due to a mysterious scheme, they end up being frozen for 20 years instead.

In addition to his good looks, here are three other reasons viewers can’t help falling for Ji Chang Wook while watching the drama:

Spoiler

1. His character is a talented variety show PD who is sexiest while working

In 1999, before he was frozen, Ma Dong Chan was a star producing director (PD). During filming for his program, “Infinite Experiment Heaven,” he set aside everyone’s fears and personally stepped up to take charge of the camera at the top of a large crane when his crew was too scared to handle it. As a result, the filming was a huge success, and he exuded professionalism as he nonchalantly announced, “Cut!”

Even in 2019, Ma Dong Chan continues to show his passion for his job. As soon as he woke up, he confidently told Kim Hong Seok (Jung Hae Kyun), the head of the broadcast network, “I’m going to return to broadcasts right away.” He immediately began preparing a new pilot program, and despite the fact that it was his first program in 20 years, he was so confident and charismatic in all of his meetings that he even managed to assert his dominance over Son Hyun Ki (Im Won Hee).

2. He’s a pro when it comes to romance and kiss scenes

Ma Dong Chan is focused not only on work, but on love too. Though they initially started off on a bad note, Ma Dong Chan is developing a romantic relationship with Go Mi Ran, with whom he was frozen for 20 years. At first, Go Mi Ran blamed him for their time-jump ordeal, but the two characters soon began experiencing a change in their feelings.

Now, if Go Mi Ran finds herself in danger, Ma Dong Chan is the first to furrow his brow and dash to the scene. He looks upon her with a loving gaze that melts viewers’ hearts, especially during their kiss scene in the rain from the previous episode of the drama.

Additionally, Ma Dong Chan is able to wordlessly convey his sincere feelings through his eyes alone, as in his scenes with his former girlfriend Na Ha Young (Yoon Se Ah).

3. His character’s overflowing sense of justice and duty

In 1999, Ma Dong Chan was the recipient of the variety program PD award at the Korea Broadcasting Awards. When asked what kind of new program he was planning, he answered, “I’m thinking of doing a program that others won’t do and that, therefore, I must do.” That program turned out to be the “Frozen Human Project,” and despite protests from his girlfriend Na Ha Young (then played by Chae Seo Jin), he explained, “Because it is so reckless, because no one is doing it, I have to do it.”

His persistence and sense of duty remain the same in 2019. In order to put to bed the headline that PD Ma Dong Chan came back alive after disappearing 20 years ago, CEO Kim Hong Seok asked him to appear on the news and say that he had left the broadcasting station. However, during the live broadcast, he introduced himself by saying, “I am frozen human Ma Dong Chan,” causing an even bigger stir.

“Melting Me Softly” airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9 p.m. KST.
