The identity of Soy Sauce Marinated Crab was revealed on MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer”!

On the October 27 episode of the music variety show, Soy Sauce Marinated Crab went up against Eggplant with his rendition of Seo Ji Won’s “With My Tears” (literal title).

Despite his moving performance, Soy Sauce Marinated Crab lost the second round to Eggplant, who sang Kim Gun Mo’s “Sleepless Rainy Night” (literal title) and won with a score of 51 to 48.

Eggplant advanced to the next round, and Soy Sauce Marinated Crab took off his mask to reveal himself as D1CE’s rapper Woo Jin Young!

“Everyone suspected me and asked if I was going out [on ‘The King of Mask Singer’],” he said. “I was nervous and scared of singing. I thought that it was a miracle that I passed the first round, and I’m proud that I passed.”

He continued, “It’s my goal to spread more knowledge about D1CE. We recently were the last ones to perform at a music show. It’s now our goal to get first place at a music show.”

Following the broadcast, Woo Jin Young shared photos and thoughts on the group’s Twitter account. He wrote, “You guys! Soy Sauce Marinated Crab on ‘The King of Mask Singer’ was me, Nyung [Jin Young]! I’m not a rice thief, but a heart-stealing thief haha. Rapper Nyung is now going to take over vocals too. I’ll show you various appearances from here on out, so please always stay by D1CE and Nyung’s side.”

In an interview with Xportsnews, Woo Jin Young stated, “It was a new experience because I was able to let everyone hear my voice on a big stage on ‘The King of Mask Singer.’ I was really nervous and worried about meeting the viewers as not only a rapper but also as a vocalist.”

He continued, “But the audience members cheered me on and enjoyed it, so I was also able to gather strength. Thank you so much. Although I was eliminated on the second round, it was a really meaningful experience.”

He added, “If another opportunity arises, I’d like to see you again with a better appearance than now. I’ll become D1CE’s Woo Jin Young who repays you with a better appearance for the love you have given me. Thank you again.”

Woo Jin Young became known to the public after first appearing on Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2.”  He then became the final winner of JTBC’s “MIXNINE” and competed on Mnet’s “Show Me the Money 8.” In August, he debuted as a member of D1CE with the group’s first mini album “Wake Up: Roll the World.”
