SBS Reports “Produce X 101” PD Tried To Destroy Evidence And Received Favors From Agencies
On November 5, SBS’s “8 O’Clock News” reported that producing director (PD) Ahn Joon Young received favors from an entertainment agency as well as attempted to destroy evidence in relation to the “Produce X 101” controversy.
Ahn Joon Young is a PD under CJ ENM who has supervised several survival programs at Mnet between 2010 and 2019. He has worked on all four seasons of “Produce 101,” including the most recent “Produce X 101.”
According to the report from “8 O’Clock News,” Ahn Joon Young was spotted receiving favors at an adult entertainment establishment that were allegedly paid for by an entertainment agency. Furthermore, SBS reported that the police had requested an arrest warrant for Ahn Joon Young and other producers after the producers tried to destroy evidence like mobile phone messages and related materials.
SBS said in the report, “It has been confirmed that Ahn Joon Young was treated at an adult entertainment establishment for millions of won by representatives of an entertainment agency. The police raided the adult entertainment center in question early last month to obtain relevant evidence. Charges of breach of trust will be filed. However, it has not been confirmed whether the agency in question is related to idols that benefited from the ranking manipulation.”
Back in June, there were rumors of vote manipulation in the live finale of “Produce X 101.” Although Mnet denied it, fans took legal action, and the police began an investigation into whether the vote counts were manipulated.
On November 4, Mnet revealed that the police had requested arrest warrants for several members of the “Produce X 101” production staff and issued an official apology. It was also revealed that the police had requested travel bans on several people related to the case. On November 5, two of the arrest warrants against the producers, including the one for Ahn Joon Young, was approved by the court.
