Suzy And Nam Joo Hyuk In Talks To Lead New tvN Drama
On November 11, it was reported that Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk would be starring in a new tvN drama titled “Sandbox” (tentative title). In response, Suzy’s agency Management SOOP and Nam Joo Hyuk’s agency YG Entertainment both stated that the actors were positively looking over the offer.
“Sandbox” is set to tell the story of a woman who jumps into running her own start-up company as she dreams of becoming the next Steve Jobs, her first love, and another man who is tasked with making that first love look even cooler. The drama will follow them as they grow in the environment of Korea’s Silicon Valley where companies flock to, dreaming of becoming the future’s Google and Amazon.
Suzy is set to play the role of Seo Dal Mi, who drops out of college and works various odd jobs in the hopes of running her own start-up company. She doesn’t want to lose to her sister, who is living the life of a chaebol, and she embarks on a difficult path to achieve her dreams.
Nam Joo Hyuk is slated to play Nam Do San, the found of Samsan Tech. He likes coding and knitting, and he was once the pride of his family as he became the youngest person to win the Math Olympiad. But 15 years later, he’s on the verge of ruining his family name as it’s been two years since he opened a start-up company with his friends and all they’ve done is use up their investors’ money.
If they accept the roles, this will be the first time Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk will appear in a drama together. The screenwriter will be Park Hye Ryun, who has worked with Suzy on “Dream High” and “While You Were Sleeping.” Directing the drama will be Oh Choong Hwan, who has worked on hits like “Doctors,” “While You Were Sleeping,” and “Hotel Del Luna.”
“Sandbox” is set to air next May.
