TWICE To Appear On Famous Japanese Year-End Show For 3rd Year In A Row

TWICE has been invited to perform on Japan’s famous New Year’s Eve music show Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle) once again!

On November 14, the official website for the show shared the lineup for their 70th year-end special. The lineup includes TWICE, Aiko, Ishikawa Sayuri, Arashi, Kanjani Eight, King & Prince, Ikimono-gakari, Perfume, Fukuyama Masaharu, Hey! Say! JUMP, Hoshino Gen, and more.

TWICE has been the only K-pop group to appear on the show for the past three years, and they’re also the first K-pop girl group that also debuted in Japan to appear on the show for three years in a row!

When TWICE first made an appearance on the New Year’s Eve special in 2017, they were the first K-pop group on the show in six years since TVXQ, Girls’ Generation, and KARA all performed in 2011.

The show features a format in which the year’s most popular artists in Japan are separated into a Red Team and a White Team, and TWICE will be on the White Team this year. The beloved year-end program reaches average viewership ratings of 40 percent, with its highest ratings hitting 81 percent.

TWICE has had another highly successful year in Japan as their fandom continues to grow. They’ve been performing for fans in Japan as part of their “TWICE WORLD TOUR 2019 ‘TWICELIGHTS'” since October 23, and they’ll hold solo concerts at the Tokyo Dome on March 3 and 4. Their second Japanese album “&TWICE” will be released on November 20.

Kōhaku Uta Gassen will air on December 31 on NHK.
