Golden Child Talks About Their Comeback, Changing Their Image, Taking On Acting, And More
On November 18, Golden Child held a showcase for their first studio album “Re-boot.”
This is the group’s first comeback in a little over a year and represents a change from their previous refreshing and energetic image.
Leader Daeyeol said, “I’m very excited to return after a year. As the hiatus was so long, it feels a little unfamiliar to be standing here again. Because of my excitement, I’m also a bit nervous.”
Joochan, who suffered a knee injury last year, said, “I’ve been focusing on my recovery for a year. Many people have been worried about me, but they don’t have to worry about me anymore. I will burn up the stage [with my performance].”
All the members of Golden Child have now passed the age of majority. Jangjun said, “The definition of this first studio album is to let the world know that Golden Child is standing at a new starting line. The first ‘season’ of our career had a bright image, so now we want to show an upgrade and a maturity in our music.”
Bomin, who has been active as an actor in projects like “A-TEEN 2” and “Melting Me Softly,” as well as emceeing “Music Bank,” said, “The drama [‘Melting Me Softly’] had its wrap party yesterday. There was only one day between the wrap party and our comeback, so that was the toughest to endure in terms of stamina. When filming ended at dawn, I’d have to go and practice choreography.”
He added, “I think I learned some composure. I tried to practice staying calm on set. Before, when I performed on stage, I always had to tie my shoelaces again. But I think that that has changed now.” He also shared that he wanted to be able to present a trophy to Golden Child as the MC of “Music Bank.”
Jangjun said, “This could be just my opinion, but the goal for this comeback is to show everyone our growth through this album. This is the style that we’ve been wanting to do for a while, so now we have to show it off.”
