Gong Hyo Jin, Kang Ha Neul, And More Say Goodbye To

The cast of KBS 2TV’s “When the Camellia Blooms” expressed their thanks and final thoughts ahead of the show’s finale, which aired November 21 to its highest ratings ever.

Gong Hyo Jin, who played Dong Baek, said, “People loved the character so much that now, they recognize me as Dong Baek instead of ‘Gongbly’ (meaning ‘Gong lovely,’ a nickname born out of the actress’s status as a rom-com queen). And a lot of people’s eyes well up when they see me. I feel that all of it is because people truly loved the character, and I’ll cherish [the drama] for a very long time.”

Kang Ha Neul, who took on the role of Hwang Yong Sik, said, “Joining such a great project was an incredible fortune, and I won’t ever be able to forget the past six months. I honestly am not sure how well I portrayed Yong Sik, but I did my best to be sincere in the role, and I learned a lot from Yong Sik.”

Kim Ji Suk and Ji Yi Soo, who played a married couple in the drama, also shared their final thoughts.

Kim Ji Suk said, “This was my first time playing a dad, and I learned a lot from the role. It was such a great drama that I wish it had gone on a little bit longer.”

Ji Yi Soo said the drama was like a miracle to her. “It made me think deeply about people’s relationships, happiness, generosity, and sacrifice, and the emotions I felt in this drama are ones I want to always look back on and share.”

Oh Jung Se said, “Every scene, every character was so lovable, and even the smallest scenes were precious and memorable. I’d be so thankful if you watched with love to the final episode.”

Yeom Hye Ran said it was an honor to play the character Hong Ja Young. “I hate that it’s over, but I was so happy working with such great actors in such a great project. I’m cheering for all of you.”

Son Dam Bi said, “It’s sad that it’s over. Every moment is playing before me like a film. I’ll remember this for a long time. Thank you so much for loving Hyang Mi. I also love the character just as much, and I’ll remember this feeling for a long time.”

“When the Camellia Blooms” aired its final episode on November 21.
