TVXQ's Changmin Shares Reason For Appearing In Food Culture Show + Baek Jong Won Praises His Cooking Skills

TVXQ’s Changmin talked about his new variety show “Style of Western Food” (literal title) with star chef Baek Jong Won.

During the press conference that was held on November 29, the idol said, “The reason why I decided to appear on this program is because I have been in the entertainment industry for about 17 years, and I feel burdened about going on other variety shows. I’m not funny, and I have nothing to talk about. [On this show,] I can listen to various stories while eating food with outstanding people. I thought it would be easy to do, so that’s why I decided to be part of it.”

After sharing the witty reason, Changmin commented, “I think there are a lot of things I can learn. I was very fortunate to have appeared with these people. I think it was a time when I was able to study valuable things.”

He continued, “Recently while filming this show, I wanted to understand cooking and ingredients a little more. I recently bought a book. It’s called ‘Silver Spoon,’ and it’s like a bible of Italian food. It’s around a thousand pages long, but I want to learn it by setting a goal to try each recipe until my 40s.”

Baek Jong Won praised, “Changmin is very good at cooking. I talked a lot about noodles because I like them. He is knowledgeable about noodles, and when you watch the show, you can see him cooking noodles. While doing this program, I saw a really different side of Changmin. I’ve eaten a couple of his noodles that don’t appear on TV, but they’re as good as those that experts make.”

The chef added, “I think he’s going to set up a noodle restaurant in the future,” and Changmin replied, “This must be why people call you the influencer of the food industry.”

“Style of Western Food” will premiere on December 1 at 11 p.m. KST.
