Film "Minari" Starring Han Ye Ri, Steven Yeun, Yoon Yeo Jung, And More Invited To 2020 Sundance Film Festival
The film “Minari” featuring Korean stars in its cast is heading to the 2020 Sundance Film Festival!
The American film by director and screenwriter Lee Isaac Chung is set in the 1980s, and it tells the story of a 7-year-old Korean-American boy named David. His entire life changes when his father moves the family to rural Arkansas to start a farm, and the movie is billed as a “charming and unexpected take on the American Dream.”
The cast includes Steven Yeun, Han Ye Ri, Yoon Yeo Jung, Will Patton, Alan Kim, and Noel Kate Cho.
The Sundance Film Festival is divided into the categories of U.S. Dramatic Competition, World Cinema Dramatic Competition, U.S. Documentary Competition, and World Cinema Documentary Competition. The U.S. Dramatic Competition category includes the world premieres of 16 narrative feature films, with “Minari” being the only one of these films that has Korean stars.
This is the first Hollywood film Han Ye Ri has starred in, and the actress has appeared in works including films such as “As One, “Commitment,” “Haemoo,” and “The Table,” as well as dramas including “Six Flying Dragons,” “Switch,” “Hello, My Twenties!” and most recently “Nokdu Flower.”
Steven Yeun is a Korean-American actor well known for playing Glenn Rhee in the popular U.S. television series “The Walking Dead.” He recently also starred alongside Yoo Ah In and Jeon Jong Seo in the acclaimed 2018 film “Burning” and has appeared in other works including “Okja.”
Celebrated veteran actress Yoon Yeo Jung has been acting for over five decades, and she’s appeared in films including “Woman of Fire,” “The Housemaid,” and many more. She currently appears in the drama “Never Twice.”
The Sundance Film Festival is one of the three biggest film festivals in North America, along with the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. It begins in Park City, Utah on January 23, 2020 and runs until February 2.
