BTS Wins Variety's Group Of The Year Award, Says New Music Is In The Works, And Poses With Billie Eilish & Lil Nas X

BTS was crowned with another award!

BTS was chosen by Variety as the group of the year at their Hitmakers brunch, which was held at the Soho House in West Hollywood on December 7 (local time).

The group attended the event, and RM shared a speech to share their gratitude and news about new music that’s coming up.

Below is the full speech:

Hi guys we’re BTS, and we’re from South Korea. Since we’re not very used to this kind of event, I’m very nervous, but I’m going to take it easy. First of all, I wanted to say thank you to Shirley (Variety’s executive editor of music) and all the editors of Variety team for choosing us as the group of the year. 2019 was truly a very exciting and surprising year for us, and this event really made it even more special. Thank you very much. Even though we’re here to receive this award from very far away, none of this would have been possible without the effort of Mr. Bang, all the producers, and all the staff from our label. And also, we have to say thank you and we love you to all the ARMYs all over the world who always send us the greatest love and support. Also, we’d like to express the biggest respect and admiration towards all the members of the music industry including artists, songwriters, producers, and everyone we met today. One thing was very clear—and it’s been even more clear thanks to you guys and Variety—it’s that music truly has power to overcome various kinds of barriers including languages, nationalities, and many boundaries. Thank you very much. The good news is that we are currently working on new music and our new album and can’t wait to share them with you guys in the near future, and I hope you guys are also excited to discover what BTS has got for 2020. Thank you very much.

A few hours after the event, Jungkook shared a video of himself eating and wrote, “ARMY, thanks for allowing us to receive an award. All of the awards we receive are ARMY’s. Nam Joon (RM) hyung, the speech was amazing!!! (The video looks unrelated to the text, but it’s not [unrelated]. I gained energy after receiving the award, so I worked out and replenished energy!!!)”
