Watch: BTS's

The latest episode of “Immortal Songs” featured an exciting remix of BTS’s “IDOL“!

On the December 21 broadcast of the KBS singing competition, the winners from this year’s previous episodes continued to face off against one another in the second installment of the 2019 year-end King of Kings Special.

Traditional Korean musicians Yoo Tae Pyung Yang, Kim Jun Su, and Go Young Yeol came together once again as the “3 Traditional Korean Music Brothers” team, and for their final performance of the year, they decided to put a fun twist on BTS’s 2018 hit “IDOL.”

Before their performance, Yoo Tae Pyung Yang revealed, “The song we chose is BTS’s ‘IDOL.'” Go Young Yeol went on to explain, “There are many elements derived from traditional Korean music in the song.” Yoo Tae Pyung Yang continued, “[BTS] displayed a lot of Korean-style dancing in their performance,” and Go Young Yeol chimed in, “Because of that, we thought that if we did a good job, we might be able to pull off [covering the song].”

The three singers then performed a unique mashup of BTS’s “IDOL” and the famous traditional Korean folk song “Sailing” (literal translation), playing up the song’s traditional Korean elements and adding several spirited percussion breaks.
